Dental Crowns

Do you have a fractured, decaying, or otherwise damaged tooth causing pain?

A custom porcelain crown can protect the structure of your tooth and restore your mouth's function.

The office of Ramsey E. Wilson, DMD, has over three decades of experience placing dental crowns on Collins, MS, patients.

Benefits of Dental Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns are tooth-colored caps that mimic the look of your natural teeth. They provide many great benefits for patients:

Protect Your Tooth

Porcelain crowns protect the dental integrity of your tooth following a root canal procedure or after your tooth has sustained damage.

Relieve Pain

If you have an infection in your tooth, you may be in a lot of pain. Pain will dissipate after the infection is cleared, and the crown is placed.

Prevent Extraction

The dentist will use your natural tooth structure to sculpt a place for the crown to sit. The crown prevents the need for extraction.

Restore Function

A damaged tooth can cause further problems for your dental health, such as misalignment, the ability to chew, and the overall function of your teeth. Crowns restore your dental function.

Improve Appearance

Missing teeth can affect how the world views your smile. Replacing a missing tooth with a crown can drastically improve your appearance.

Take a Look at the Procedure of Placing Dental Crowns

Your natural tooth roots and dental structure stay intact with a porcelain dental crown. The dentist will sculpt your tooth to fit the placement of the crown.

The Process of Placing Dental Crowns Step-by-Step

Our dentistry office uses porcelain fused to metal and ceramic to create durable, natural-looking crowns.

Day of Procedure

Consultation

Dr. Wilson begins to process of placing crowns through a consultation. During your consultation, Dr. Wilson will determine if crowns are the right treatment method for your dental needs by taking a close look at the state of your teeth with digital x-rays.

Taking Impressions

If Dr. Wilson determines a crown is right for you, he will take impressions of your teeth. Our dentistry office uses traditional impressions for the most realistic results.

Relax With Sedation

Before beginning the procedure, the dentist will numb your mouth with local anesthesia. We also offer sedation methods to calm any nerves accompanying dental procedures.

Preparing the Tooth

The dentist will sculpt your tooth to fit your custom crown. This process is virtually painless, thanks to local anesthesia.

Building the Crown

The dentist will send your impressions to a local lab and place a temporary crown on your tooth to restore function until your permanent porcelain crown is placed. The average time to craft your unique crown is 2 to 3 weeks.

Placing the Crown

Once your crown is ready for placement, you'll return to the dentist's office. Dr. Wilson will remove your temporary crown and place your permanent crown.
